bareMinerals Perfect Ten Makeup Tutorial

Hi, loves! I posted my first holiday inspired makeup tutorial on my channel today. It'll be the first of my new holiday series, I hope to have 6 holiday tutorials up by New Years. As you know I work with bareMinerals and part of my job is to try their new makeup (I'm a very lucky girl, I know) so the Perfect Ten Makeup Clutch was gifted to me and I instantly fell in love with it! They had a similar palette last year for holiday except it was gold, wasn't a clutch, and didn't has as many eyeshadows and had a small lipgloss instead of a lipstick. Both are great but I do prefer the Perfect Ten because of the zipper feature,  the extra two eyeshadows, the double ended brush, and the lip shades are SO ME. Here is the look I created for my video:

I'm going to Europe ♡

It was a June afternoon and my good friend Agnes and I were on our way back home from a bridal trial I had done for her sorority sister. Agnes' birthday is in November and we were brainstorming of somewhere we could all travel together for the big 25. The thought of experiencing a new place gives me an adrenaline rush and I told her I really wanted to go to Europe for my 25th, it was just wishful thinking but I didn't know how possible it would be. I think every girl should experience Europe before they settle down and get married is what I've always thought to myself. Our twenties are our selfish years and as much as I want all of the beautiful things that come with having a family, I feel a huge need to spend money on experiences that I'd maybe have to sacrifice if I ever became someones wife or mom.

On January 29th, 2014 I will be on a plane to Europe for 8 days. We will first be in Paris, then Barcelona and make our way to London last. I'm going with my friend Agnes who I've known since high school, we've been friends for 10 years and she's definitely the ideal person for me to share this experience with since we're both passionate about seeing the world and she's already studied abroad in the UK and also visited France, Spain and even Ireland. We had originally planned our Euro trip for the summer since my birthday is July 23rd and were already saving for our trip since our calculated expenses were about $4,000 for the amount of countries we wanted to visit. Europe is so expensive but were pretty set on that plan.

Sometime last week Agnes texted me with a groupon trip for Ireland just for fun. I went on my groupon  ap myself and started looking around since I'm never on that thing and found an 8 day trip to Paris and Barcelona with accommodations for $1200 and sent it to Agnes. Within that hour, we had both bought our groupon trips and were set for Europe. Good thing I was already saving for the summer and had the funds available, sure beats $4,000. That was just a regular day and never in a million years would I had thought that I'd be buying a trip to these beautiful countries while sitting in my PJs on my couch. It was and still is surreal. I had never even bought anything on that ap before haha. In case you're wondering, we'll be buying separate tickets to London while in Barcelona and get back to Spain before we have to come back home. Can't wait to make a video showing you guys everything I'll be packing for these amazing countries! It's a dream come true.

My Banana Oat Pancakes

There are so many similar pancake recipes us instagram users come across everyday when you follow multiple fitspo accounts. I definitely pulled inspiration from a variety of these recipes when making my own healthy pancakes but I never followed them step by step so I was very pleased when I made my own and they were the best pancakes I had ever had in my life. I could be wrong, but I think mine are a little tastier because I don't use protein powder. I don't take any measurements when making these, I pretty much just eyeball everything and hope for the best lol but this is what you'll need:

-1 pack of oats (I like to use cinnamon oats)
-Half of a large banana
-1 egg or 2 egg whites
-About half a cup of soy milk. (you can use almond or regular milk)
-Cooking oil, or butter.

Blend the dry oats, I use my nutribullet so I'm not sure how it's like to blend these oats in a regular sized blender. I know this seems odd but trust me it works. Add the broken down oats to a bowl and add your egg(s), add the chopped banana so it's easier to mix, and then add your milk. I use an electronic mixer to get a nice smooth batter. I put my stove on low heat while I'm mixing, I don't know if it depends on what kind of stove you have. I really don't know anything about cooking but just don't burn your pancakes or your house and you're good. I like to use olive oil when I cook anything btw.

Your fruit toppings are totally up to you. Whenever I haven't had any berries I've just added sliced bananas on top. I like to add honey instead of syrup (I've never liked syrup anyway) and the 100% pure and natural granola I use on top for texture is Banana Nut by Bear Naked, as you can tell I love bananas. The picture above is from my instagram and so many of you asked me for the recipe so here it is. Lets all eat healthier and feel better, even if it's just breakfast ;)

New Blog!

Hey everyone! For those of you who don't know me my name is Alba and I make beauty related videos on I started my channel a five years ago when I was 19 and really didn't know what I was getting myself into but it was a huge blessing. I'm now 24, getting paid to do what I love and even though my life isn't perfect, I sometimes do feel like I'm living a dream. I've been doing makeup for five years and am currently a beauty vlogger for bareMinerals who sometimes travels with the company to attend beauty events as a makeup artist. A lot of people don't really understand how I make a living but a lot of it is by working from home. When I'm shooting, editing, uploading a video, and responding to comments, all of that is part of my job. Some may think it's easy but the truth is I'm never not working. However, because I do what I love, it definitely does not feel like work. For example, it's 4 am and my mother probably thinks I'm up wasting time online when I've actually been working on a new blog. I'm totally clueless to all of this so bare with me...I'm lucky I was able to find the post button.

Me at BeautyCon this past August

Why am I starting a blog? Well, for one thing I've always liked to write. If I could pick between my own cosmetic line and book, I'd pick a book of mine to be published. People don't believe me when I tell them that but writing was something I was passionate about before makeup. When I was 12 I said I would never wear makeup, so how I ended up where I am today is pretty funny to me. That's the beautiful thing about life and it reminds me of the quote "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans". Another reason is because my good friend Nikki (NikkiPhillipi on YouTube) once told me that blogging was like Instagram except you can write a lot more and I'm addicted to Instagram, so when she put it into perspective, I told myself I'd have a blog one day. By the way, my instagram and twitter are both @AlbaMayo. Last but not least, I love photography and my goal is to share my life with you through beautiful photos. I don't have a camera at the moment but I have a lot of faith that I will have a great one soon, so stay tuned. There's so much more to come. -Alba
